Running Calender
~ June 3, 2010 Run ~
- Distance: 6k
- Where: Lake just past Ontario Place, and back.
- Weather: On the verge of raining, but no rain, still pretty hot.
- Food: Homemade salad/chicken/wrap at lunch and veggie burger (no bun), with soup after
- Conclusion: The run was o.k. Not amazing, but not bad. I’m terrified of my knee pain coming back, so if I slightly feel it, I start to walk. I did my exercises/stretches before and after, but after my entire thigh felt thick and solid (very tight). I have today (June 4th) off from running - thank goodness. The 6k took me AGES: 50 minutes. Because I stopped for a bit on the run and tried to massage my leg, and I walked about 2k.
~ June 2, 2010 Run ~
- Distance: 10k
- Where: Wellington, Jarvis, College/Carlton, Montrose, Dundas, Spadina, Wellington
- Weather: RAIN. Like, crazy, crazy rain.
- Food: Grilled Chicken pita from Pita Pit at lunch.
- Conclusion: Rough Run. My knee KILLED at about 7k so I had to walk. I was late to the group because I had physio first, so I ran it alone and it was POURING, like 100% rain, 100% all the time. I was drenched to the bone. Really rough run. I foam-rolled my leg right after, then showered, then rolled it again, and again and am icing it as I type this. I had tears in my eyes 7k - 10k, not from the pain, but just from the fact it was hurting. Sigh… tomorrow is supposed to be 6k. *If* I run it, it’s going to be SLOW.
~ June 1, 2010 Run ~
- Distance: 6k
- Where: Young, Queen’s Quay, Bathurst, Wellington
- Weather: HOT. About 30 degrees.
- Food: Grilled Chicken pita from Pita Pit at lunch. Not enough water before/during.
- Conclusion: The run was hard. Really hard. It was tempo speed. It was my first run with my running group. I didn’t foam-roll my knee before, but did after. It doesn’t seem to hurt that much right now (yay!). I was actually terrified on the run tonight as it was so hot, and I found the run itself really hard, like I-thought-I-was-going-to-die hard. My legs/breathing only really kicked in at about 5.5k. Tomorrow is 10k - I’m slightly freaking out. Fine, I’m freaking out a lot.
- People kept asking me tonight what my goal was to finish the marathon in… Umm what? I don’t know, I just want to cross the finish line of the damn thing… However the schedule I’m following is to finish it in 4:30h. I have no clue if that’s realistic… we shall see.
~ May 30, 2010 Run ~
- Distance: 5k
- Where: Lake, thus flat. (to Ontario place and back)
- Weather: HOT. About 30 degrees.
- Food: I had a handful of cheddar fish things about 2 hours before.
- Conclusion: It was an o.k run. I rolled my leg before, and stopped 10 min in and did my IT stretches and at about the 4k mark I started to feel a slight knee pain, so I walked a bit and then ran really fast home (as I heard IT band syndrome is from running slow). I didn’t feel my knee when I ran fast. Once home I rolled my knee. Showered. and then later on iced and rolled it again. I have bruises on my thigh from rolling it. Physio on Tuesday - want to ask if I should be able to feel that muscle moving around when I roll.
~ May 26, 2010 Run ~
- Distance: 3.5k running. 5k overall
- Where: Lake, thus flat.
- Weather: HOT. About 25 degrees.
- Food: I made some scrambled egg whites 1/2 an hour before and had 2 yogurt cups (too much food)
- Conclusion: It was a good run. I foam-rolled my leg before and did some stretches. Wore my brace. Iced and foam-rolled my leg after. 1k into my run I ran into the Running Room’s marathon group and ran with them for the rest of my run. They tried to convince me to join. I’m seriously considering it… as it would be nice to have support on this (sure-to-be) epic journey…
